in lieu of a wedding journal

In Novemeber I had to travel to Denton to take my Ph.D. qualifying exams. While I was in town, I had coffee with my friend Adrienne, and she gave me some excellent advice. She told me that some day when I'm no longer feeling overwhelmed by all the tasks involved in planning a wedding I will wish I could remember more of the fun and funny things that happened during these months. She suggested I write things down somewhere or even keep a journal of the experience.

Rather than adding to the oodles of paper that already clutter my desk (bundles of student essays, stacks of receipts for wedding purchases, and much more), I think I'll blog. I've encountered countless wedding blogs as I've scoured the Internet for ideas and resources, and I've picked up quite a few intriguing and useful pieces of information from them. Reading some of those blogs has also inspired me to finally take Adrienne's advice and record some of the ups and downs of wedding planning.
