It's been a long while. I got out of the habit of blogging, but now I'm back. I'll get a couple of sentences in tonight and maybe something more interesting later this week.
I've been baking. A lot. Here's a photo of some rolls I made for our lunches this week:
They're 50% whole wheat, 50% bread flour. The first few times we made bread with any wheat or rye flour in the mix, they would have made highly effective weapons. Very heavy and dense. They're getting much better though. Probably because we've been getting a lot of practice. Lately we bake bread at least once a week.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate? Are you kidding me? That sounds so intriguing! I saw your comment over at Sprinkle Bakes and had to stop by! Tell me more about salted hot chocolate please!
ReplyDeleteHi Lil,
ReplyDeleteI just enjoyed looking at some wonderful brunch photos over on your Lavender Clouds blog.
Salted caramel hot chocolate is just what it sounds like. Add a little salt while you're making some caramel sauce. Then stir it into some hot chocolate. It's wonderful.
My favorite salted caramel sauce recipe is actually from Sprinkle Bakes. It's what she uses as the filling in Triple Salted Caramel Cupcakes. And it's delicious in coffee, too.
So I only just noticed you wrote me back right now as I was coming over to write you again! Anyway, before I saw this I was over at Marshall's doing a little shopping when I spotted...hold on...wait for it...Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate! I instantly thought of you and I figured this must be some popular Starbucks item that I never got the memo about. It won't be as home made as yours I guess, but I'll give it a try nonetheless. You know my motto...good things simple! And if it's not good, I'll try it your way. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI started to mention the Starbucks hot chocolate. I think it's pretty good. Hope you enjoyed it!
